As part of CRISAFE’s early warning system, three rainfall sensors have been successfully installed in the catchment areas of Črnomerec, Pustodol, and Jazbina retention basins. The installation was carried out by FCEZG in close collaboration with project partner Hrvatske Vode, who helped define optimal sensor locations based on hydrological and operational criteria. These sensors represent a key component of the early warning system, supporting real-time monitoring and validation of the hazard quantification models.
In the next phase, three limnigraphs for stream water level monitoring and a seismograph to track soil motion during earthquakes will be installed. Together, these instruments will enhance the monitoring of retention infrastructure vulnerability under flood and seismic scenarios. The overall system aims to detect critical thresholds related to rainfall intensity, water levels, and seismic acceleration – enabling timely alerts and response planning.
